Now, this has been based on genuine research, of asking candidates over the last 3 months for their specific reasons.
 
This may not come as much of a shock, but the main drivers are:
 
1.      Salary
2.      Flexibility
3.      Personal Improvement
4.      Pension
5.      General benefits
6.      People they work with
 
Admittedly, the vast majority of candidates asked have been IT-based, so not sure if that would change for different sectors.
 
I think it’s fair to say that salary has been the consistent number 1 reason over the entirety of my career.
