Over the last 5 years, Jump IT Recruitment Solutions Limited has lost several good recruitment accounts.
Yep, really good key accounts to us.
The first time it happened, I was gutted.
We had delivered for several years. Placements we made from 20 years ago were still in the business and had grown into senior roles.
We were still successful at placing people into these companies, at a good price point for both parties, and the relationships had always been very strong, too.
So why or how did we lose them?
Our clients sold their businesses.
Private equity firms bought some; a global IT company swallowed up one; others were bought by very large US companies.
It used to worry me a lot.
How can we be discarded after all we had done for these clients?
Surely, they still needed us.
In some cases, the relationship ended pretty much the next day. A new broom sweeps. The new owners, always a much larger company, had their own way of doing things.
It was an unnecessary stress at the time for me. What had we done wrong?
These days, I look at losing accounts very differently.
We have been part of some pretty amazing business growths. Entrusted to find the right people and deliver. In several cases, from the very start of a business. Their first placement outside of the founders.
We have also helped improve people’s careers and offered opportunities that individuals may not have ever known about or been presented with. We have been a small cog in their career journey.
Now, when we lose a client by being sold, who we have loved working with, we look at the positives.
It isn’t our fault we’ve lost these accounts. We have done what we are there to do. Supply brilliant people to help them achieve their goals.
If you are a small start-up or looking to grow, try us. We’d love to help you become another success story.
