I spoke to someone on Saturday who had worked in the same job for 16 years.
He had never been late. Never let his employer down. He loved the work. He loved the customers. He absolutely loved his job.
I am not sure if Iโve ever met someone who loved what they did quite so much!
As recruiters, we are often focused on matching the right skills or right person fit to the client or job we have, but one question we shouldn’t overlook is:
๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐ญ๐ก๐ข๐ฌ ๐ฉ๐๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง ๐๐ ๐ก๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฒ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฃ๐จ๐?
Getting the perfect job match not only makes someone more productive, but theyโre also more likely to stay with that employer.
Jo satisfaction reduces staff turnover, boosts engagement, and helps create a healthier workplace culture.
Basically, it’s a win-win for both client and candidate.
We often hear candidates say they want a โbetter opportunity,โ but digging deeper, what they can often mean is they want to feel valued, challenged, and fulfilled.
As a recruiter, part of our job is to try and uncover what happiness at work means for each individual and ensure the roles we present reflect that.
I’ve been very lucky in that we have some truly wonderful clients we work with, and I/we will walk away from any potential employers who we feel donโt align with our values or have a difficult or negative culture.
It’s imperative that employers keep a healthy, happy, engaged workforce.
So, if you have a role you are looking to fill with the right person, or looking for a new role, do engage with a recruiter who holds your values and appreciates happiness is a key aspect of employing people.
Oh, and if you really wanted to know what the person I mentioned above did for a living.
He worked at a petrol station! (100% true)!
