Deadlines and Delivery

In Tunbridge Wells, we have another 36 hours (and counting) without water before our water will be turned back on.

1000’s of us will believe it when we see it.

I count myself lucky.

We have a car to drive to water pickup points; 2 water butts; and a good old-fashioned water tank in the house. Many are not so lucky with modern builds, young kids, schools closed etc.

It’s been frustrating.

Arguably, the two single points of most people’s ire have been:

·        Poor communication

·        Continual missing of promised deadlines.

These 2 points resonate so much in recruitment.

The deadly silence after submitting a CV or further information. No feedback from either party after an interview; OR applying to a recruiter that’s been chasing you about for a job, then silence, OR the ‘I’ll send that to you later today’ or “we will hear back on X” and then you don’t.

These two points can be the easiest to resolve.

A quick WhatsApp, text, email or call back (30 seconds) is all it takes.

Honesty, too if the best policy

Give a deadline of 48 hours rather than 24 to allow yourself the time.

And don’t forget a good old-fashioned sincere apology for being late (not a ‘we feel your pain’ when you aren’t actually directly affected by having no water!
