What’s the single biggest change in 35 years of recruitment?

There have been so many changes from technical advances to how we search, but the one most noticeable thing for me has been 1 simple thing.

Communication. Or more specifically speaking to each other.

When I started in recruitment, everyone was in the office and had a landline.

Everybody would answer their phone.

Arguably, people had more time to do so?

Then came the answer machine. But still HR (Personnel), Hiring Managers, and candidates returned calls.

Have people just got busier as the decades have moved on?

Definitely a lot more recruiters / salespeople out there selling services, which is probably a factor.

Does anyone agree or disagree that communication has been the single biggest change?
