I was surprised to receive this email from a candidate late yesterday:
“Great – thank you for confirming the call and all the additional info/guides you have sent over! Best service I have come across so far!” said the candidate.
‘Really?’ was my reply
All I had done was book and arrange an interview and provide the candidate with information I would expect all recruiters to send out.
You really would want your candidate to do as best they can do, so that they got the job, wouldn’t you?
I had always assumed that to be normal practice. Provide as much info as you possibly can.
In this instance, it included:
Full company details, outline tech spec, website, links to the MeetUp, full name, positions and LinkedIn profiles of those in the interview, job details and interview guides.
Nothing too flashy, but as much info as we had / could provide in this specific instance.
For some clients we have worked with for years, it involves a lot more. We tell you where to walk from the station, park, and for relocation, places to try/avoid, guides for property, who may be able to help you rent etc.
You also don’t want to let your client down, surely?
So, why am I surprised
The candidate had received poor information in the past. This most likely left him unprepared and, therefore, unable to do his best.
